Am I reading that score right? 41-0 Patriots over Redskins in preseason football??? I figured New England was better/is better -- but not 41 points better.
Like Peter Boyle's character Frank Boron on the hit television show Everybody Loves Raymond says, "Holy Crap!" (note: even announcer Mike Patrick mentioned on the telecast that Redskins Head Coach Joe Gibbs looked like he used the word 'crap' tonight -- and if you know his nice history/background -- that tells you he wasn't pleased with what was going on at the time).
Has there even been a more lopsided preseason victory in NFL history? Back to the subject at hand... the Washington Redskins...
I know - it's only a preseason game. I usually do not take much out of them. After all, the Indianapolis Colts went winless during last year's preseason and finished with the best record in football at 14-2. Of course, they finished short of the ultimate prize -- winning a Super Bowl. I guess that is why they said after the 0-4 preseason 'no team in the last so-many years has gone winless during the preseason and won the Super Bowl'.
Still, not a good sign by the Redskins Saturday night. And I say all this as a Redskins fan -- one who now finds it very hard, much harder, to believe they can beat out the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles for the NFC East crown. Granted, getting in the playoffs as a wild card team as they did last year is not impossible. The whole QB situation doesn't sit well with my stomach. Right now if I was Joe Gibbs, I would be taking a LOT of Maalox!
