Sunday, June 10, 2007 - Tennis Time: Federer vs. Nadal For French Open

Sunday morning at Roland Garros it'll be Roger Federer against Rafael Nadal in what many anticipate to be a classic match between the two best players currently in the Men's Tennis game.

Until Federer defeated him a couple weeks ago, Nadal had won 81 in a row on clay.  That's right... 81!  Striaght.  Consecutive.  That's half the number of MLB games in a season.  Five times the amount of NFL games.  There are only 82 games in an NBA regular season.

But the last time these two met at the French Open it was all Nadal as he devastated the World's #1 ranked player with his deadly forehand and making Federer struggle with his backhand.  What's at stake for Nadal?  A third consecutive title at the French Open, something only Bjorn Borg, a six-time French Open title winner, has ever done.

For Federer, it's pretty simple.  It was not long ago that he fired his coach, Tony Roach.  This is a chance for Federer to cement his legacy as one of the greatest Men's Tennis players of all-time - if not the best in the modern era.  He's going for the Grand Slam and should be able to win it if he gets past the one roadblack in his way, and that's the 21-year-old from Spain.

Pick:  Federer in 5 sets, making him and Tiger Woods (Golf) the two most dominant athletes in their respective sports today.
